Callifarrious

One of the major cities of Ravenguard and one of the three important to the Zaergenzeral Cult, Callifarrious is best known for being the most technologically advanced location in Chirua. The entire city is surrounded by an orange electrical barrier that is visible only near the top of the stone walls that house the generators that create it, and invisible elsewhere. The barrier is in effect at fluctuating undisclosed heights, largely dependent on the power level of the generators at any given time. Callifarrious' Eolin-fal overseer is Rielledynam, said to be constantly at work in the Underground Laboratory regarding technological and biological advancements to improve quality of life for city residents.

Callifarrious is located on the eastern side of Northern Ravenguard, and borders several other settlements such Esairin, Iykregul's Den, and Smokeriver. Most of the architecture within Callifarrious is composed of minimalist or boxy structures, constructed primarily with unpainted concrete and steel.

In the center of the city is a tall stone statue of Rielledynam, positioned to face Zaergenzeral's direction. It was created long in the past, therefore it depicts a different version of Rielledynam that does not fully resemble the one that roams Chirua in the present. The base of the statue contains a freight elevator that, after a long trip, leads to the Underground Laboratory. Winding around the elevator shaft is a staircase, in case someone wants to work out on their way to the lab. There is also a fountain at the foot of the statue that visitors have made a tradition to toss iriyl into and wish for good fortune.

Because of the walls and barrier, the style of architecture, increased police presence (including Riszarda's Agents), and the Eolin-fal overseer; Callifarrious is often compared to a prison. The residents insist that, despite the outward appearance of the city, they don't feel any need to be liberated, especially not from their city's ugly architecture.

Underground Laboratory

The existence of the Underground Laboratory has never been a secret; its location underground was a decision made to keep surface space available for other buildings accessible to the public. Within the boundaries of the laboratory, Rielledynam and trusted assistants further their research into subjects that the government-funded laboratories don't prioritize, discovering solutions to problems and applying them within Callifarrious before the government can. These breakthroughs enabled by the research done in the Underground Laboratory are the reason as to why the city seems to be so further ahead in terms of technology, but Rielledynam does not restrict the findings to Callifarrious, instead passing the knowledge to others who can make use of it. All data relevant to the research is backed up to external hard drives, to be permanently stored at the Grand Library of Zaergenzeral.

Parts of the Underground Laboratory are available to the public for tours during the research team's working hours, allowing curious citizens to wander the lab and watch (frankly boring) research in real time. While much of the lab is in public view, there is a section that attentive visitors noticed that only Rielledynam enters, having not seen a single assistant enter or exit. When asked about it, Rielledynam says that it is a storeroom for files and hard drives that are to be sent to the Grand Library, and the assistants aren't allowed inside to keep the files in the exact condition Rielledynam left them in. Of course people were not satisfied with that answer, and have come up with theories as to what is actually in that area, ranging from being a secret lab within a lab, to some kind of portal, to a horrible crime scene. It's more interesting to believe that it is something else entirely, than accept the lame reality.
