The Zaergenzeral Cult
The organization was originally known as the Raven's Truth; they built the city of Zaergenzeral in the Eiserne Forest to have their own refuge. Incessantly referred to as the Zaergenzeral Cult through defamation effort put out by the Grand Order, the group has since accepted it and still refers to itself in the same manner.
The assumed goal of the Zaergenzeral Cult is to spread the "truth" of Lord Ravenienne's nature, and in turn weaken the Grand Order's influence on Zeirenjier. They have come to expect hatred in their direction, and continue their crusade regardless of what they are threatened with.
Makulatorrven Eolin-fal
Creatures of power well beyond that of the common person, the Makulatorrven Eolin-fal are the three masters of the Zaergenzeral Cult, encouraging their devoted followers to believe in what they say is truth about the Grand Order's leader.
While all three Eolin-fal share the same main goal, they each have their own personal desires for change in Chirua, and so have attracted creatures that share their ideas and are willing to aid them with their visions.
Mestrious Flare
The first of the Eolin-fal and overseer of Zaergenzeral is Jangzowaheiv, better known as Mestrious Flare. He is easily distinguished by the bloodied armor he always wears, and is the most "human-like" in appearance out of the Eolin-fal. He is noticeably brash and impulsive, according to those who have spoken with him.
Mestrious Flare and his loyal coven are the primary reason for the Cult's bad reputation; the blood on the Blood Knight's armor didn't magically appear on the metal plates, after all. Mestrious Flare patrols Zaergenzeral and certain nearby towns freely. Should he encounter an active criminal or other nuisance, he will not hesitate to neutralize them with his distinctive energy-blade gauntlets. The members of the coven follow his lead and involve themselves in vigilantism, including outside Zaergenzeral, with varying results.
Beracende 28 is Mestrious Flare's observance. Only on this day are members of his sect allowed to step foot around his shed near Eiserne Lake. Their most infamous activity is to bring containers filled with blood or viscera from any source and either pour it into the lake, or over Mestrious Flare's armor. The ceremony is said to be a gauge of Cultists' devotion to Mestrious Flare, dependent on how much substance a Cultist brings to the lake, and to "motivate" Mestrious Flare to continue his patrols.
Rielledynam
The second of the Eolin-fal and overseer of Callifarrious is Camanzauran, or Rielledynam. Making the least amount of public appearances, Rielledynam spends most days below Callifarrious, in the Underground Laboratory. Possessing otherworldly knowledge, even Redwater ministers have approached Rielledynam for solutions to their difficult problems.
The fellow researchers in the Underground Laboratory are all devoted to Rielledynam's vision of furthering scientific discovery and understanding how Zeirenjier functions. This is to improve the lives of creatures stuck under the rule of Lord Ravenienne, and protect them from what may happen in the future. Rielledynam and the acolytes have assisted in technological advancements primarily developed by other organizations, such as Armech, Gemul Techwork, and the Space Station.
Working as if unbound to the laws of the Grand Order or the king, the staff of the laboratory haven't always hastened their biological research through wholesome means. Rielledynam insists that all Ichauri-irinic test subjects are acolytes that have volunteered for it of their own volition, not random citizens, and therefore interference on behalf of their well-being is unnecessary.
Arwacende 20 is Rielledynam's observance. Rielledynam has neither encouraged nor discouraged particular actions on this date, so acolytes have taken to congregating outside the central statue in Callifarrious to await any potential speeches or urgent orders from their master.
Zenzegron
The third of the Eolin-fal and overseer of Engrada is Maugranam, commonly called Zenzegron. Thought of as the most horrifying of the Eolin-fal to look at, Zenzegron generally does not stay out of water for too long, both to alleviate his pain and avoid scaring visitors to Engrada. He cannot see, and adapts by using other senses to navigate through his environment. Of the Eolin-fal, Zenzegron is the most sociable, willing to spend most of his time interacting with others and giving advice, but that depends on whether one wants to be around him in the first place.
The sect that devotes themselves primarily to Zenzegron will be the most visible out in the world, being the ones who go out of their way to convince Chiruan citizens to consider the Cult's position through paid programming, billboards, mailed booklets, and pop-up displays. They are also responsible for archiving everything the Eolin-fal say, keeping the records in the Grand Library. Zenzegron trusts his followers to carry out his requests, and will send them out on important business in his place due to his physical condition.
Kurazcende 23 is Zenzegron's observance, in which his followers honor him in the simple ways they're familiar with, such as gifts or cleaning up Lake Engrada to hold a gathering nearby. Despite employing no violence or immorality whatsoever in their activities, the sect is still disliked as much as the other two.
Doctrine
[This is a paraphrasing of the beliefs the Zaergenzeral Cult is founded on, and not my personal thoughts. In case anyone was wondering.]
Ravenienne created Zeirenjier; it is undisputable fact. It is the only good thing he has done.
After Saulzienne fell, Ravenienne could not look after Zeirenjier on his own, and so created new assistants to take his brother's place. These three assistants are Mestrious Flare, Rielledynam, and Zenzegron; all distinct from one another in appearance and mindset. They were to physically walk on Zeirenjier and keep the peace among the creatures that remained after Saulzienne attempted to slaughter them. Ravenienne and his children were hard at work on Zeirenjier, rebuilding what had been broken down. But the evil in what remained of Saulzienne's spirit had infected the Eolin-fal, leading them to betray Ravenienne and ruin what they had so carefully repaired.
Or so the Grand Order says.
Saulzienne was no more, leaving Zeirenjier entirely under Ravenienne's control, but it was too much for him to look over by himself. He created the Makulatorrven Eolin-fal with fragments of his body, intending for them to take Saulzienne's place. With their help, Ravenienne was able to spread his new timekeeping system, language, and what is now known as the Grand Order to all the world, completely replacing what was there before. But even with the changes so embedded into the cultures across the isolated continents, Ravenienne was not satisfied with the state of Zeirenjier.
Creations of Saulzienne still existed in the world. Despite their devotion to him, Ravenienne wanted the Ichauri-irin removed, wanting Zeirenjier to contain creatures only made by his hand. Claiming that his power was limited and therefore he could not kill anything, he ordered the Eolin-fal to do it for him. They did not want to carry out his order, believing it to be a poor decision that will destroy everything that they and Ravenienne had spent so long building. The three of them gathered in Chirua to discuss what to do regarding their master's desires. Annihilating part of the world's population in such a short time would cause more problems for Ravenienne than he had considered. They wanted to talk him out of it and come up with a solution that would be less destructive, but still give him a way to change Zeirenjier into something he would be satisfied with.
The Eolin-fal could no longer leave the continent after they had gathered there for their discussion. Regardless of what method they used or what direction they took, the Eolin-fal would journey away from the boundaries of Chirua, only for their travels to end where they had started. An act of Ravenienne's, in response to the Eolin-fal's delay in theirs; Chirua was now the only continent that existed for them. The inability to go anywhere else on Zeirenjier was just an inconvenience for the Eolin-fal themselves, but it had left the other continents vulnerable to Ravenienne's desire to clean them out. There was nothing they could do for the creatures outside their prison, but there was still an opportunity for the Eolin-fal to protect those within Chirua from Ravenienne.
The Chiruan citizens still believed that Ravenienne was looking after them, that he was still answering their prayers. The Eolin-fal's words were impossible to believe—why would their creator want them dead? Of course he still cared for them, they thought. He must, for he had sent Sotonagyo to warn Ravenienne's devoted of the corruption that ruined the spirits of the Eolin-fal.
The true day of his arrival on Chirua is unknown, but by the time the Eolin-fal first encountered Sotonagyo, followers of the Grand Order had already placed their faith in him, urging him to strike down those who have betrayed Ravenienne. As Ravenienne created the Eolin-fal to kill the Ichauri-irin, he had now created Sotonagyo to kill the Eolin-fal.
As strong as he was compared to individual members of the three before him, raw strength could not bring him victory in the uneven battle his master had sent him to fight. But the damage he had dealt was as permanent as death, for the Eolin-fal would suffer with disfiguring, bleeding wounds that will never heal. As Grandmaster of the Grand Order in the present, Sotonagyo denies that he had caused the injuries. He commits to the lie that his duty on Zeirenjier never included attacking the Eolin-fal, only to shield the people from them. Their appearances are simply the physical reflections of their spirits, stained for eternity for failing to resist Saulzienne's call.
There are too many holes in the Grand Order's version of history. We don't know about anything outside Chirua. Sotonagyo knows more than he is letting in on. Our knowledge is being suppressed; this is the reason for the Raven's Truth.
Zaergenzeral Cult Tenets
A list of things that Cultists commonly follow or believe, and enforce upon each other.
- Discard the thoughts of Ravenienne being benevolent, for he has always been the opposite.
- The Makulatorrven Eolin-fal know the way. Trust them.
- Make others aware of the lies Ravenienne has spread in any way you see fit.
- Never place any faith in Ravenienne, Sotonagyo, or followers of the Grand Order; for they plague Chirua.
- Arwacende 20, Beracende 28, and Kurazcende 23 are the most important days of the year.
- Respect the resting places of the dead. Do not be the reason why their spirits are stuck on Zeirenjier for longer than necessary.
- The Grand Order will attempt to silence us. Do not submit.
- Do not antagonize others in the world unprovoked, making enemies will not help our cause.
- We cannot force others to accept the truth, only give them the opportunity to see it.
